Things to Do

Just to remind myself of some things I want to do.
  • Learn to ride a motorbike (check ... doing a course this Saturday).
  • Buy a motorbike. Either a V-Star 250 or Virago.
  • Do some more writing.
  • Start a group writing thing ... had this idea of a bunch of people writing a serial. Maybe something like Lost for Blogs ... each writer, takes the perspective of a character (helps explain differences in style) and writes a regualr piece, with the only rule that it has to end on some cliffhanger twist and the next writer takes that twist as their starting point and runs with it.
  • Write a comic. Which means finding an illustrator. Current ideas include a Spaghetti Western set in space ... think Clint Eastwood on Tatooine. Lame, but comics mostly are. And I mean, Warren Ellis gets away with in WolfSkin, which is an amalgamation of Conan with samurai fiction.
  • Start a regular roleplaying group. I haven't done this in years but it could actually be kind-of cool, particularly with some dramatic thespian types rather than number-crunching nerds. But still ... a bit of a strange idea, I know.
  • Related to that, have a games night. More with the nerd. Risk, Memoir 44, BloodBowl, Chess, Go, whatever.
  • See some theatre.
  • Go to the opera.
  • Practice the drums more. Started getting back into the swing of practice.
  • Start an nearly-all-girl post-rock orchestral sound experience spectacular. The nearly-all-girl is mostly facetious, but I have been hanging around in male bands since I was 17, and I just think it would be good to be the token boy for a change (I mean, I've been in bands with girls, of course (ended in tears, but that's my fault) but mostly a lot of the cock-rock, if you know what I mean). And regardless I would love to be in rollocking Godspeed You! Black Emperor band. I have a cellist, accordion player and pianist in mind already (not that they know it yet).
  • Go to the Grampians, stay in the Y Hostel, take over the massive kitchen and cook up a storm. Possibly also go outside for long meditative walks. Of course this is much more fun with Point 6 taken care of. I should definitely add a Point 6.5: Cooking and Wine Drinking Partner.
  • Go to Brisbane to see the family.
That's all I can think of ... there was something else, I know it.

Tobytoby, you're going to be busybusy. I must say though, opera and theatre are both on my "to do in the near future" list. Ballet was on there too, but I've booked that already. I'd like to go to some MSO concerts too. Oh dammit now i'm going to have to do my own things to do list.

Thanks a WHOLE BUNCH!

My friend Tommy just told me that I should get medical insurance before I get a bike.

That's confidence for you.

I'll be a pianist in your almost all girl orchestra. I can play Slayer and/or Schubert on the piano.
grrrrrr!!!

Wonderful. Schlaybert!

And do you also play the clarinet? Or is that artistic license in your recent post?

Yes, I used to, but piano is my real one. It is where my skillz lie.
My clari is broken and needs re-corking.
