Bomb into happiness

Some background on the Israeli invasion of Lebanon on 6 June 1982: The Siege of Beirut. The incumbent terrorist organisation at the time was the PLO.

I keep getting the feeling that a lot of this stuff has happened before.

And some interesting, if perhaps controversial, thoughts on the situation: Eradication First. Before diplomacy.

Methinks someone has been reading Clauswitz: "Wars are fought until they are won."

It's a valid point.

The Hawks seem to have missed this wisdom. You cannot enter war lightly ... you pursue to the end or not at all. This is a discussion that I have had with Crush several times and one that makes me sound like a warmonger ... but if you are going to be so insane as to invade another country (for example) you must be prepared for what this necessarily entails. The idea that you can waltz into a country, liberate* the populace and proceed to pilfer their resources is wilfully delusional.

The answer, of course, is not to do it.

Fucking idiots.



* The term liberate here is used in it's modern, colloquial sense, meaning to bomb into happiness.
