Weekend in review

I entered a number of rooms on the weekend and not once did anyone play my new theme song. Most disappointing.

I was heckled from the galleries and a beautiful woman defended my honour. Which was nice.

Charlie, Crush (or the The Brains Trust) and I drank several fine ales and discussed computational history. This is an unfolding and unmitigiated disaster, really - a project that is guaranteed to offend and alienate everyone. But if ever there was a person qualified to offend and alienate all, I am your man.

But it is a privilege to be associated with such brainiacs. Discussions of historical simulation between a physicist and culture theorist/historian are fun to watch because the twain so rarely meet, I try and stand somewhere to the side and collect the best bits that fall out (and then wiki them in my simulation wiki*). Although I must admit a twinge of discomfort at conversations that talk about the statistical likelihood of a particular state apparatus under certain conditions engaging in mass slaughter of minority groups ...

Did I mention that this project will offend and alienate everyone?

Watched The Bill and it was OK.

Watched Tristram Shandy and didn't get it.

Ate meat and three veg. Old school.

Watched a game of Scrabble being played. I have played Scrabble maybe twice in my life. It actually seems like more fun now that I realise it is about the letters, not the words.

Oh, and The Salon was robbed. The Salon is the fancy name for the rather plush garage I live in. I came home on Friday and noticed my mountain bike was gone. Nothing else. Just the bike. The bike sitting in a garage filled with our band gear. And then this morning I went to get change for coffee and discovered my change bag is gone too. The change bag sitting next to the pile of XBox games. Strange. Bike and change gone. Everything else appears fine.

* To the heckling anon, I have (several) personal wikis.

I wasn't going to mention the Frozen Spinach ... I feel ashamed about my packet a day habit.

frozen spinach is nothing to be ashamed of.*

*much

Just like my ability to read an entire detailed post, and leave a post about the most irrelevant part of it. Actually i'm not ashamed of that. I'm quite proud of my ability to be spectacularly irrelevant. Go me.

At the markets here, there are some stalls with just a million types of foreign green stuff.. but I can never see any spinach - which is all I want, to make me strong, you know. Then the other day I pointed to some at the subway and said to Korean friend 'like that - what the feck is that?!' and he said 'spinach'. Really. 'k, so what's that one?'. 'Spinach'. Basically it's like the lettuce restaurant - a million types of foreign spinach.

yay for people not getting tristram shandy - I thought it was clever, not funny or especially good, and was starting to think i was in the minority.

TT - thought of you when reading about the former leader of the Scottish Socialist Party defending himself in a defamation case centring on hisa fidelity. In his opening speech, he told the jury: "You will hear of my addiction to Scrabble and sunbeds, not champagne, cocaine and swingers' clubs... The evidence I will lead will establish the truth about me as an individual and a socialist."
