- Charlie made sweet potato gnocchi in vast quantities.
- Saw Alex and the Ramps at Gertudes. They weren't quite as good as the last time I saw them at the Rob Roy, because the sound was a bit all over the place. But still, awesome band.
- I started learning Ruby on Rails and it is the BEST THING EVER.
- I am using the weirdly hilarious Why's Poignant Guide to Ruby to come up to speed with the love that is the Ruby Programming Language:
You might be inclined to think that metaprogramming is another hacker word and was first overheard in private phone calls between fax machines. Honest to God, I am here to tell you that it is stranger than that. Metaprogramming began with taking drugs in the company of dolphins.
- Ah, metaprogramming. My favourite. Almost as good as being able to discuss the merits of UML's meta-meta-model*.
- Some languages I know in no particular order and in varying levels of comprehension (but the majority I have used professionally):
Java, PHP, VB Script, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ActionScript, C, C++, Gopher, Python, SQL, VB (original recipe and .Net), various implementations of XML, XSLT, Cold Fusion, & Lingo(!).
- I was woken in the early hours of Saturday morning by a slightly drunk and very attractive woman.
- Had breakfast at the best cafe in the world. Seriously. I could tell you about it, but I don't want to share it with everyone.
- I was called a Curmudgeon:
A highly eccentric, contrary, and strongly opinionated person who seems to enjoy rocking the boat and upsetting apple-carts.**
- Went to the Victoria Markets and experienced the fatty sugared delight of Spanish Doughnuts. Not really a fan. Also: bought much meat. Lamb Roast (for $7, unparalleded value) for dinner tonight.
- After markets went back to bed for Sunday afternoon. Lovely.
- Went for a walk with a very excitable dog around Princes Park. Hilarious. I want one. A dog. Not a park. Although owning my own park would be wicked and I could buy some goats to keep in it. But it's hard to be not be happy with a funny creature running around like an insane canine rocket.
- Did a whole bunch of training and feel great ... back on track with training, joining a new gym, probably going to start this week Tai-Chi for a change of pace.
- First album for Monday: Grails, Red Light.
* I kid you not. UML has an explicit meta-meta-model.
** I actually enjoy upsetting banana-carts as it causes more economic damage.

did kp take you to the spanish donut cart?
However did you guess?
Because I told her it was a must.
Well, unfortunately, I thought the donuts were pretty gross.
so did she when i introduced her to them. perplexing.
i think they are funny. sorry.
also, i guess the gnocchi goodness is hard to beat. yummmmm.
this is true. they had to grow in my esteem. but bonnie, when we woke up on sunday morning, and i was slightly hungover-over [the double barrel version, carrying over from friday], all i could think about was spanish doughnuts and sweet milky coffee [the consumption of which prepared me for the struggle to stop tt coming home with live rabbits]. thank christ there were no goats for sale...
Reading your posts reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Bart gets glasses, orthopaedic shoes and a spray that makes his voice squeaky. He sees his reflection in Millhouse's glasses and says 'Oh no, I'm a nerd.' Millhouse then sees his own, normal reflection in Bart's glasses and says 'Oh no, so am I!'
Anyway, 'curmudgeon' has been a favourite of mine for a long time, and I'm glad you're enjoying it. Working in health, it's amazing how many old men i come across fit the description perfectly.
KP - I think you should have let Toby bring home the rabbits. I've yet to have the donuts at the markets, but the bakery inside the big food hally place where you can buy French butter and all kinds of jerky makes the best danishes I've ever tried ever ohmigod. Also, borek.
I would like some sweet potato gnocchi, yes. And I'm glad you went to the Ramps gig, Mr TT.
