My secret is the Brainwave Generator.
This software uses something called binaural beats to stimulate particular Brainwave frequencies. You can use it to help in meditation or in maintaining focus (as I often do, ADD child that I ... ooh look: a room that looks like a cartoon).
The different frequencies of the brain are:
Frequency range | Name | Usually associated with: |
---|---|---|
> 40 Hz | Gamma waves | |
13–40 Hz | Beta waves | Attention |
7–13 Hz | Alpha waves | Relaxation (while staying awake) |
4–7 Hz | Theta waves | Dreams, deep meditation |
<> | Delta waves | Deep dreamless sleep |
It definitely works, you can feel you mind shifting. I like to get some pink noise or water sounds underneath the tones ... takes the edge off.
I also recommend caution when using this tool. In 2000 I abused the "Creative" setting for hours at a time for several months and went ... a bit weird.
Imagine that ...

Question: Is there a Macintosh or Linux version available?
Answer: No.
BOO. Now YOU can be one of the disgruntled oppressed Mac users. Welcome! Welcome!
