Novelty theory attempts to predict the ebb and flow of novelty in the universe as an inherent quality of time. It is an idea conceived of and discussed at length by Terence McKennaFound this stuff again today as part of some research I am doing for Secret Project TM Part II. I actually saw Terence McKenna speak years ago (1996 - at The Zoo in Brisbane*) and it was pretty amazing - he experimented with all sorts of hallucinogenic compounds and formulated some truly fantastic ideas. Novelty Theory is one of them. He also had some idea that magic mushrooms were some sort of alien projection from a higher dimension and that the evolution of human intelligence basically came about because 3 million years ago some monkeys ate some shrooms and blew their minds.
As I said, fantastic stuff. In several senses of the word.
* I can remember long-term stuff with alarming accuracy. Not sure why this is.
(And how the hell did I see someone speak? I may have been on something myself)
